H&R Johnson expecting flat turnover in FY 18

KOCHI: Tiles major H&R Johnson, a division of Prism Cement Ltd., is expecting its turnover to remain flat in the current fiscal as growth in housing industry has been subdued due to the impact of factors like demonetisation, GST and RERA.

The company’s revenue was Rs 1822 crore in 2016-17. “We should be closing this year at nearly the same figure,” said Vijay Aggarwal, managing director of Prism Cement Ltd. He feels that in the long term thesefactors may help in raising the share of organised sector to 60% from current 40%. “While the industry grew by 1 to 2% we did slightly better nationally,” Aggarwal said.

The company, which now offers end-to-end home solutions, opened its third experience centre, which displays all its collections, in South India. The company currently has 5 such showrooms in the country. “Kerala being one of our strong markets accounts for over 10 % of our total turnover,” he said. H&R Johnson also unveiled 50 new products during the launch.

The company plans to open 20 such showrooms by the end of next fiscal. Aggarwal said Johnson has around 18% share in the organised tile market in the country and is a dominant player in the market. In kitchen and furniture segment, it has gone for German collaboration.
